ETF Post of the Week
The best description of the current state of the ETF industry might be “The Jack Bogle Paradox.” I’ll let Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas explain…
The Jack Bogle Paradox: the more money that goes into cheap Vanguard-ian funds, the more hot sauce & derivative products you will see launched. Right now 60% of ETF assets are now invested in funds charging 10bps or less, yet those generate only 16% of industry revenue.… pic.twitter.com/i2DH7SAy4r

ETF Chart of the Week
The shift toward ETFs in model portfolios continues to gain momentum. Data from Morningstar shows ETFs now represent 55% of the average model portfolio’s holdings, surpassing mutual funds and extending a trend that has been building for years.
Equally noteworthy is the growth of actively managed ETFs, whose share of ETF allocations in model portfolios has more than tripled since 2021. As advisors increasingly embrace ETF-based strategies, model portfolios are becoming one of the industry’s most important distribution channels for issuers.
(Note: On last week’s ETF Prime, I sat down with Bryon Lake to discuss the rapid growth of Goldman Sachs Asset Management’s ETF model portfolio business and why model portfolios have become such an important distribution channel for ETFs. Watch the interview in the section below.)
