ETF Post of the Week
Bloomberg’s Eric Balchunas notes that despite the recent market turbulence, Vanguard ETF investors continue putting money to work. In fact, Vanguard ETFs are set to post one of their best quarters EVER.
“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night…”
The Trump Put and the Fed Put may not be as reliable as ppl thought but the "Vanguard Put" is solid as ever. This year these wealth creatin' invs have poured $1.5/day(!) into Vgrd ETFs, firm on track for one of its best quarters ever. Navy Seals-level discipline, the smart money pic.twitter.com/eiNJlD36mt

ETF Chart of the Week
International stocks have outperformed so far this year, with the iShares MSCI EAFE ETF (EFA) and the iShares MSCI Emerging Markets ETF (EEM) up 11% and 7%, respectively. That compares to a 4% decline in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF (SPY). The recent surge has some investors wondering if THIS is finally the year for international stocks after nearly two decades of underperformance. Just how bad has performance been?
I cherry-picked this date to drive home the point, but below is the performance of these three ETFs since December 1st, 2007. Note that this is TOTAL RETURN (in other words, including dividends).
Investors should be forgiven if they’re a bit skeptical that any international stock outperformance is sustainable.
